Held at knifepoint!

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 27, 2007, 8:34 AM
Yeah, seroiusly. Yesterday the shop I work in was robbed by these two guys. I was the only person on tills at the time and it was pretty busy. I'd been in work for about a half hour. I was serving a woman and I noticed a guy coming up and around to my right. He told me to open the till and I thought he was asking for change or something. Then I noticed he had a knife pointed at me. So I opened the till.

He took about 500 euro and ran off with his friend while I ran off to tell my supervisor. She called the police and I started serving all the customers (every single one of them offered me a cup of tea). The police arrived after about five minutes and I was asked to give a description of the two guys. It was actually embarrasing how little I remembered about the whole thing. I took in absolutely no details about what the two guys looked like or anything. It all happened in about four minutes but it felt like a couple of seconds.

I pretty much spent the next three hours talking to various policemen, giving a statement and helping some guys take fingerprints from the tills and the floor where the guys stood. It was more exciting than my average workday anyway.

It's gonna be an excellent summer

Fri Feb 9, 2007, 11:09 AM
I just found out that The Who and Slayer are both playing about 20 minutes from my house this summer (on different days, although seeing them to gether would amuse me highly).

Finntroll and Amon Amarth are also playing in town in April. I don't know why so many excellent bands are playing so near my house in the next few months but I hope it doesn't stop. It'll be a nice change from the usual 5 hour bus journey to Dublin, staying in a hostel and looking forward to another 5 hour trip home the next day. The lack of travel will also make it far cheaper. More money for drinking afterwards then

Woo, bandwagon.

A sort of life update

Thu Nov 2, 2006, 4:51 PM
Typical, I finally wrestle the computer from my brothers grasp and the whole thing goes down for system maintenance.

I’ve been busy lately, way too busy. I’m back at college, doing work placement in a creche and working an actual job in the evenings. I’m still attempting to get used to it all. I’m not good with mornings so getting up at 7.30 just to spend an hour on the bus to spend 7 or so hours in various classrooms isn’t all that appealing to me. Especially when the day also involves spending 40 minutes on the bus so I can get to work to spend 5 hours on a checkout. I also work weekends so it feels like I never have any spare time.

The creche I‘m in, however, is quite excellent. There’s just no way to argue with the logic of a room full of three year olds. They’re loud though, almost impossibly loud. They’ve adopted me as a sort of punching bag/slave. Which also leaves me feeling exhausted.

I have this whole weekend off though :excited: I’m going to the Unholy Alliance tour on Sunday. For those not in the know this involves Slayer, Lamb of God, In Flames and Children of Bodom all in one night. Which is unimaginably excellent. My goal is to completely lose my voice during the concert. Shouldn’t be too difficult.
